Vacation Vibes | Design Team: Nikki Sher
Hello fellow Layle by Mail friends!
It’s Nikki Sher, and I’m back to share another spread in my Mexico travel album using the amazing new Far and Wide Collection! One of my favorite things about this collection is how easy it is to mix bold patterns, bright colors, and playful travel icons while still keeping everything cohesive.
For this layout, I documented our very first full day in Riviera Maya — a relaxing pool day complete with sunshine and mango margaritas!
The base of both pages started with the yellow striped paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad with the black-and-white typography pattern layered over it. I absolutely love how the bright yellow gives this spread such a happy, tropical feel while the text paper adds contrast and helps ground all the colorful embellishments.
To keep the photos as the focal point, I matted all of my pictures with red cardstock. The red really makes the blue skies and tropical colors pop! I also used one of the tab die cuts above the photo to create a fun layered detail that draws your eye right to the main image.
For embellishing, I leaned heavily into the adorable postage stamp icons included in the Die Cut Icons pack. I scattered several around the spread to help reinforce the travel theme while also adding movement across the pages. The tiny tropical images are honestly some of my favorite elements in the entire collection!
On the right page, I layered one of the alphabet cards from the Die Cut Words and Phrases pack on my photo to create a simple monogram-style accent. This was such an easy way to add another layer without overwhelming the page. I also added one of the circular “Day 2” elements near the journaling to help tell the story and document the timeline of the trip.
For the journaling, I kept things simple and documented how we decided to ease into vacation mode with a relaxing afternoon by the pool after a long day of travel. Sometimes those quieter vacation memories end up being the ones you remember most!
I finished everything off with a title element from the Die Cut Titles pack. I love how this layout feels bright, warm, and full of vacation energy — exactly how that day felt in real life.
The Far and Wide Collection continues to be absolutely perfect for documenting travel adventures big and small. I can’t wait to keep filling this album with more memories from our trip!
