Travelogue London | Design Team: Susanna Lee

Hi everyone! Suzanna popping in today to share with you some pages from my latest travel album created with the Far & Wide collection. Layle very kindly sent me the collection knowing my love of travel and creating travel albums. If you have a similar travel bug and are a memory keeper, you NEED this collection! The bright colors, ephemera, stamps, all of it, they are just perfect for documenting those special memories!

So far, this is the opening of my album. I have skipped the title page and jumped right into the long weekends’ itinerary. A brief overview of each days’ sights seen, places visited and food eaten (that’s a huge part of travel for us!). A large photo of an iconic London landmark with one of the large die cuts really grabs your attention. While the bottom/right corner with some stamping and a simple label add support to the page.

Only one page (half of the next spread) is dedicated to the travel itself. But there is more to it than meets the eye! The large photo of us with our suitcases wheeling down the jetway is a flap. Surrounding that flap are the compass points with the S serving a small tab that secures the flap down.

Lift that photo flap and underneath is a band of one of the 6x8 patterned papers with another interactive element.

The flap of a folded 4x6 photo collage with ephemera icons from one of the THREE ephemera packs is one of the cut apart 3x4 pocket cards that is decorated with a strip of washi and one of the word phrases. While I love traveling and seeing new sights, I can’t say that I love the flights themselves. Sometimes I’ll document the movie(s) watched or books read but really, I just want to get there. Skip the less memorable part and get to the good parts!

The right hand side of this spread is about the hotel that we stayed at. Overlapping the large photo of our hotel room is a piece of acetate. Upon that acetate is a 3x4 photo flap. I used a few of the ephemera pieces from the collection on the flap for décor. The contents of the flap are similar to the travel day page – one pulls the contents out of the pocket with a 4x6 journal card that is folded, a photo on top and a photo on the back. Double sided photo paper is key here!

The next spread is a mix of hybrid and pockets. If you’re familiar with my albums, you know I love to mix pockets with large photos and there are always lots of interactive elements! The large die cut film strip makes a perfect tip out or flap that opens to reveal more information underneath. I am using the Olive Alpha (from LBM) through out the album for labeling locations, as I did on the previous page for the hotel name.

Also from the bits released with the collection is the Postage Builder – Travel. The pop of yellow from the stamp border creates a nice carryover from the label tab to the content below the flap. Note another piece of the 6x8 paper pad on the backside of the flap that hides where I adhered the three photos into the opening of the film strip.

The opposing pockets are about the fountains on the grounds of the Hayward Museum. The green and blue of the “Let’s Go” pocket card (cut apart page) really pop the blue sky and green’ish sculpture. Once again, I have used ephemera bits, a tag cut from another cut apart sheet and a tag from the ephemera, attached to the pocket itself.

That’s it for this go around but this is just the very beginning of a very busy long weekend in London! Be sure to come back for more travels documented with this colorful collection!
