Summer Pool Days Layout | Design Team: Nikki Sher

It's Nikki Sher, and today I'm sharing a bright and colorful summer layout featuring the new Summer/Fall Season Pass collection! This page documents the official opening of our pool for the season, complete with floaties, flowers, sunshine, and a relaxing afternoon spent enjoying the warm weather.
One of my favorite things about this collection is how easy it is to mix patterns and colors while still creating a cohesive design. For this layout, I started with the yellow lattice patterned paper as my background and built the entire page around a series of horizontal bands. The bright pink and rainbow stripe papers create strong visual anchors that help guide your eye across the page while tying all four photos together.
One of my favorite design techniques is creating a grid-based layout and then breaking the grid in a few intentional places. Here, the photos are arranged in a clean structure, but the larger pool photo overlaps the left side of the design while the title extends beyond the photo boundaries. These small details help keep the page feeling dynamic rather than rigid.
The large "SUMMER" die cut became the focal point for the left side of the page. Because the title already carries so much color and visual weight, I kept the embellishing underneath fairly simple by layering a few rub-on phrases and a small wordstrip sticker. The combination creates depth without overwhelming the photos.
On the right side of the page, I created a secondary focal point using the flip flops, florals, and a heart die cuts. Clustering embellishments around the journaling card helps draw attention to the story while balancing the larger title on the opposite side of the layout.
One of my favorite aspects of this layout is the way the bright colors, playful patterns, and summer-themed embellishments work together to capture the carefree feeling of a warm day by the pool. By repeating colors throughout the page and layering patterns strategically, the design feels energetic and fun while still allowing the photos to remain the focus.
