Sparks of Joy Layout | Design Team: Nikki Sher

Hello fellow Layle by Mail friends!

It's Nikki Sher, and I'm back with another spread in my Traveler’s Notebook Mini Album! One of my goals this year has been to document more of the everyday adventures and creative experiences that bring me joy, and this layout captures one of those perfectly.

In March, Jen and I attended the San Francisco Stationery Fest, and it was such a fun day filled with creativity, inspiration, and of course, lots of shopping! From discovering new vendors to admiring beautiful paper goods and handmade products, there was no shortage of things to see. I knew right away that this memory deserved a spot in my album.

For this spread, I started with the soft pink polka-dot paper from the 2026 Spring/Summer Season Pass collection as my background. The playful pattern felt like the perfect complement to the colorful photos and cheerful theme of the day.

One of my favorite design elements on this layout is the vertical strips of patterned paper placed behind the photos. Not only do they help draw your eye across both pages, but they also allow me to showcase different patterns from the collection without overwhelming the design.

I matted all of my photos with light blue cardstock to help them stand out against the pink background. The blue mats create a nice visual frame and tie together the colors found throughout the collection.

The larger photo on the left page features Jen and me enjoying the beautiful spring weather outside the event. To help tell the story, I added a few smaller photos showing our purchases from the day. Including detail photos is one of my favorite ways to stretch a memory across a layout while capturing the little things I don't want to forget.

The Season Pass Die Cuts made embellishing this spread incredibly easy. I used the colorful LOVE sentiment, rainbow icon, bird, envelope floral cluster, and adorable pencils to reinforce the creative theme of the event.  Layering several die cuts together instantly adds dimension and interest without requiring a lot of extra work.

Adding a small label on the photo provided the perfect spot to add the date and location, helping preserve those important details for years to come.

When creating multi-photo spreads, I try to balance larger photos with smaller supporting images and embellishments. The combination helps tell a complete story while still leaving plenty of room for decorative elements. The Season Pass collection made that easy thanks to the variety of icons, labels, and colorful accents included in the kit.

This layout is a wonderful reminder of a creative day spent with a great friend, discovering new inspiration, and celebrating all things paper crafting. Sometimes it's these simple adventures that become our favorite memories to document.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this spread inspires you to document one of your own "little moments" and pull out those extra photos you've been saving.

Happy crafting!

Best,

Nikki Sher
