Magical Foam Sheets!

A few weeks ago I was in Phoenix at Scrapbook.com filming technique videos for for some of their new products.  One of the products I played with was their Double Sided Adhesive Foam Sheets; I used them to make my own custom Thickers-style titles!

I paired the Fun Words large dies from the Simple Stories Say Cheese 4 collection with the 4.25x5.5" Adhesive Foam Sheets & some glitter cardstock & voila!  Super easy, on demand, custom 3D titles!

After I bit of trial & error, I figured out the best way to do it so I thought I'd share :)

The foam sheets are 2mm which is great - a nice thickness.  And the glitter cardstock I used was nice & thick & glittery - also nice!  The combined thickness of the foam sheet AND the glitter cardstock together was too much for *my* die cutting machine - I tried it the first time! - so rather than running the foam and the cardstock through together with the die on a single pass, I ran them through separately.  Die cutting machines vary, so this may not be the case for all die cutting machines.

More trial and error!  I first tried removing the easy peel backing & adhering the glittered piece, while still holding it in my hand.  While that worked-ish, the word lost its shape a bit when I removed the backing so it was harder to line up the glittered piece with the foam piece.  You can see in the image below how the glittered piece is just slightly 'off' from the foam piece.

No problem!  When I did it again, I peeled off the backing from the bottom of the foam piece and adhered to my layout. THEN I peeled of the backing from the top of the foam piece and adhered the glittered piece on top - so easy!

I followed that process on the FUN title and it worked really well!

Usually I'm all about convenience and buying titles that are already done.  But sometimes you want just the right title and you want it to pop AND you want it in the color that you want it.  That's where some fun dies, a die cut machine and the Double Sided Adhesive Foam Sheets from Scrapbook.com came in handy!

Here's the video I mentioned where I walk you through the process of creating the title!
