January Reading | Design Team: Marsha Farris

Hey there! It's Marsha Farris, and I'm excited to share a new project using Layle's stamps!

I started a new 6x8 album this year and plan to include a variety of page sizes in it. One of my hobbies is reading, so I wanted to make a spread to document the books I read in January.

To begin, I printed the book covers at approximately 1.75 x 2.5 inches and arranged them on cardstock trimmed to 7 x 8.25 inches. I love the bold Poe Alpha - Large Lower Case stamp and paired it with the Olive Alpha stamp to create my title. I could not resist stamping some images from the List Builder - Mini Icons - Books stamp set for additional interest--perfect for my spread!  For the stamping, I used my favorite black ink, VersaFine Clair Nocturne, and Broken China Distress Oxide ink.

On the other page of the layout, I trimmed a patterned paper to 5 x 8.25 inches to serve as the background. Then, I selected coordinating patterned papers and used the Library Card and Library Pocket metal dies to make the pocket and the background piece. I also created a little embellishment cluster on the pocket with labels and floral die cuts from my stash.

I knew I wanted to document my favorite book for the month, so I stamped the Library card on white cardstock with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink and cut it out with the coordinating Library Card metal die. I added more stamping to the card with the Poe Alpha - Large Lower Case stamp and the List Builder - Mini Icons - Books stamp. To finish, I added the book cover and journaled about my highlighted book.

This reading-themed layout was so much fun to create using Layle By Mail stamps!
