January Calendar Inspiration | Design Team: Shellye McDaniel
Happy New Year everyone! Shellye McDaniel here with my “snowy” January Set-Up. I’m in Texas and we rarely get snow in my area, but I still love the thought of it and can’t resist a cute snowman!

I first started with the LBM Monthly Calendar Standard Wide Insert and a portion of the January Journal Card 12X12 Paper found in the 2026 Season Pass Paper Pack. I left the “Snowman” and “it’s going to be a great year” 3X4 cards intact and corner rounded all four edges. Between the two cards, I added the sweet scallop border rub-on. Next, I embellished the center of the cards with a layering of the die-cut snowy tree and pink bow. When using intricate die-cuts such as the bow, I like to use a thin layer of hot glue which adds a slight bit of dimension.

To insert the journal card dashboard into the TN, I created a hinge using a scrap of white cardstock. I measured between the two staples that hold the TN together and cut the cardstock a bit shorter. I left the length of the paper at 5.5”. Next I found the center of the paper and scored two lines approximately 1/8” on each side of the center. After folding along the two score lines, I inserted the paper between the staples of the notebook (the extra flap will come out on the December side!). When December planning rolls around, I’ll match the same style of dashboard to cover the extending piece of cardstock. The journal card strip was glued to the flap and the back was covered in a strip of the “Snowy Ombré” Paper in the same size. I made a tab from leftover “Striped” Paper.

When dating the calendar, I used the Dear December “Santa 8X6 Calendar” Paper and a 3/8” circle punch and punched out all of the days! The circle dates were glued in placed and then topped with a dusting of iridescent glitter (I think they look like little snowballs!). I also cut rectangular pieces of papers from the January Season’s Pass collection and glued them in a quilted-style pattern in the date squares.
For the stamped images, I used the Season Pass 2026 Winter/Spring 4X6 Stamp Set to stamp “Highlight of the Month” to the back of the dashboard. Next, I used the Month by Month-January-4X6 Stamp Set to stamp “The Month of January” which was trimmed out from the patterned paper and attached with foam adhesive below the “great year” on the front dashboard. I stamped the “J-Jan” rectangle stamp, cut it out and added to the back of the tab. Finally, I stamped several images of the “steno-notepad” onto white cardstock and trimmed them out. I’ve used one of the images on Day 5 to make journaling easier for the days that have a darker rectangle of paper. I also plan to mix in some typed paper strips as well!
It has been awhile since I’ve delved into this type of traveler’s notebook, so I look forward to trying different styles for the months ahead!
Thank you for looking!
