Frightful Layout | Design Team: Junell Kruzel

Who is ready for spooky season? I am! Junell here on the blog today and I have the cutest, “frightful” layout to share with you using the Moonlit Manor collection!

While looking through the Moonlit Manor collection I came across a die cut of a ghost wearing a party hat and it triggered a memory. I knew somewhere I had a picture of me as a little kid dressed for Halloween in the cutest clown costume. And being a childless person is not going to stop me from scrapbooking trick-or-treating photos! I dug through boxes of photos and found what I was looking for!

I did not use the original photos in my layout. I took a photo of a photo and cropped that. I didn’t even edit the photo because I wanted to maintain that 1970’s vintage look.

I wanted to create a trick-or-treating “scene” using all the cute little trick-or-treaters die-cuts, so I pulled those out, along with some of the stickers from the cardstock sticker sheet. I put baby powder on the back of those so I could move them around without sticking until I found the placement I liked.

I started by placing my photos and title in the center of the layout and built out the scene from there. There was a lot of playing around and adding and subtracting items until it felt right. The key to making it look tidy and balanced was leaving “white space” on the top and bottom of the layout. If I had spread the “scene” throughout the entire page, it would have looked cluttered and overwhelming to the eye.

Once I got the “scene” just how I wanted it, I used adhesive to stick it down and I also added a foam dot to the back of the heads to make it pop and feel a little more realistic.

I added sticker stars and stamped some stars to fill in the empty spaces. I also used the new Christi Alpha to add the year on top of the tile.

I am so happy with how this turned out. It’s so sweet and now I don’t  have to dig through a box of photos to revisit this Halloween memory! Let me know if you have any more questions about how I created it. Thanks for reading and you can find more of my layouts here on Instagram.
