Favorite Authors | Design Team: Junell Kruzel

Hello everyone! Junell here on the blog today! As soon as I saw the typewriter stamp and metal die I immediately knew I wanted to create a layout about my favorite authors! Typewriters and authors just go together!

I started off by getting my background set up. I cut the pink paper down to size and also the white paper and used a fineliner pen to outline the white paper.

I then stamped and die cut out the typewriter. I did not use it as a pocket though. I just cut the tabs off and adhered it to the page. I then stamped it again and fussy cut out the center part where the keys are because it was a little too busy with all those blue dots for my liking. I just adhered that right on top of the whole typewriter image. I used a silver colored pencil to color in the keys and other parts of the typewriter.

For the piece of paper coming out of the typewriter, I used the paper that looked like notebook paper from the Winter/Spring Season Pass. I cut it to size, added a rub-on onto it and my journaling printed on clear, matte sticker paper. I just cut a slit in the typewriter with a craft knife to make it look like it was coming out of the typewriter. I added two foam dots to the top corners to give it a shadow and make it look “real”.

I then added my title using the small Reggie alpha stamp set. For the smaller “subtitle” I used the open Typewriter Keys Alpha Stamp Set and Metal Dies Bundle. I stamped each letter and then used the circle dies to cut them out.

For the right side I stamped out the names of my favorite authors and also die cut them. Then adhered each letter down with rolling adhesive. the hardest part was getting it all straight. Yes, it did take some time, but I think it was worth it!

I then found pictures of my favorite authors online and also typed out my top three titles I love from each author in Canva and printed it all out. I used a circle punch for the pictures and placed them where I thought they looked best. Then added the book titles. I finished it all off by fussy cutting some orange flowers from a patterned paper in the new Spring/Summer Season Pass and arranged them where I thought they looked good, forming a visual triangle.

I cannot wait to see what everyone creates using this typewriter stamp and die set! Thanks for reading and you can find more of my layouts here on Instagram.
