Falling for You Layout | Design Team: Jessica Michaels
Hey friends, Jessica here! The Everyday Gratitude collection from Layle by Mail is packed with fall icons and embellishments, and I couldn't wait to get it on a layout. I wanted the paper and die cuts to be the stars, so I built the page around a big maple leaf and a favorite photo of my husband and I from last fall. Here's how it came together, along with a few of the design choices I made along the way.
I'm loving the Everyday Gratitude collection from Layle by Mail, so I paired it with a large Maple Leaf cutfile and a photo of my husband and I from last fall. I cut the leaf from textured white cardstock on my Cricut, then used the hide contours feature to cut a backing piece from the collection's orange patterned paper. I glued the two together with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and set it aside. Next, I added mixed media in shades of orange and yellow near the bottom of the page, watering it down as I went. I kept it just visible around the leaf so it makes a landing spot for my title and journaling strips.
To tie the collection colors together, I added splatters in gold and blue. A few white splatters broke up the bold orange print on the leaf and gave it some texture, and I layered leafy stenciling over the mixed media. While that dried, I matted my photo with white cardstock and applied rub ons from the Glimmers set across the top. They really broke up the negative sky space!
For the date, I made die cuts using the October Month by Month stamp set and the 2026 About Last Month stamp set. I colored them with Copic markers and fussy cut them out, so they work as both a little embellishment and the date for the layout.
The Falling For You acrylic piece from my stash was the perfect title, and I paired it with die cuts from the Fall/Holiday Season Pass and the Everyday Gratitude Critters set. I finished with a canvas flair and some thread above the title. The full process video is up on YouTube if you'd like to watch!
