Discover | Design Team: Tai Cortez
Hello Crafty friends! My name is Tai and I am new to the Layle by Mail design team. I am so glad to be here and I am in love with the recent stamp releases.
For today’s project, I created a double page layout in my 6x8 album for the start of my ‘One Little Word’ journey.
I printed out a recent selfie as a full page photo that sits outside the page protector. The size is 7x8.25 and I used the Tali alpha to stamp out my word ‘Discover’ with StazOn Ink. Its is the best ink to used on photo paper. I then used the ‘Olive’ alpha to stamp out ‘one little word’ along the top of my photo.
I love the use of two font styles for my title along the top and side of the photo. The photo had great negative space to work with and stamping was made easy.
For the opposite side, I used a piece of acetate with a light plaid patterned on it, it was in my stash. I created a little circular pockets with a 2.5 inch punch and a 3 inch punch.
These 2.5 inch circles will hold my journaling and the 3 inch circles I cut in half to create pockets for the circles. One the half circles I used the 'Goal Getter’ and ‘Grateful’ stamp sets to add sentiments/ prompts for my journaling. ‘Goal Getter’, ‘progress over perfection’, ‘grateful’ and ‘keep it simple’ were perfect to use for my project.
In order to adhere the half circles to my page I machine stitched them onto my acetate. This worked perfectly in order not to see glue or double sided tape on the back side of the acetate. The colors and stamping add to the fun I am having with the the different fonts.
The graphic fonts on both sides of my project are amazing. The stamps are the star of the show along with the beautiful blue color across both pages.
I hope I can go on a journey with my word “Discover” this year and make a few projects this year checking in with it. I hope I can discover new habits, discover new hobbies, discover how wonderful life is, discover how to take care of myself more, discover new friends and discover who I am in my mid 40s.
