December Daily - Day 4

Welcome to day 4!

Each day here on my blog I'll be sharing my foundation pages (the base page I had ready to go before the month) and the finished pages along with the supplies I used.

I have a few Document Your December kits available herethe kits include what I used to create the BASE of project (ie the foundation pages BEFORE I start documenting each day this month).  As always, the Layle By Mail kits include everything you need to create the project, along with color step-by-step instructions :)

Day 4 -

The 4th is always a fun one in my December Daily books every year... it's our youngest son's birthday!

I created a little peek-a-boo insert that opens in the center.  Super easy to do, I took two 6x8 pieces of paper and trimmed one in half down the center, scored 1/2 from the left edge of the left piece and 1/2 inch from the right edge of the right piece, turned them over & applied adhesive to the scored parts & then adhered to the top of the second 6x8 piece so they two pieces meet in the center.

Here's the page open -

I had planned to put small, 2x2 photos where the white squares are, but decided to use them for journaling + a few stickers instead.

I started a tradition with our boys when they were little - after they go to bed, the night before their birthdays, we decorate their bedroom door like a giant present, wrapped with paper, bows & little goodies attached.  This year we had a little wrench in our plans for his birthday door... he's away at college!  No worries... I planned ahead and did it for him while he was home for Thanksgiving :)  As silly as it seems, they both have really looked forward to their birthday door every year!  One year we were out of town for his birthday and so we decorated the bathroom door in our hotel room for him - ha ha!!

It's fun to see how he changes from year to year looking at the same picture.  Here's the same day from the very first December Daily I did back in 2008!

Even funnier to see how the door stuff changes.  When they were little it was so easy - a little candy, a few small toys from the dollar store & done.  As they've gotten older, it's turned to cash & gift cards!  He claims he's a starving college student, so gift cards to a few restaurants should tide him over until he's home after finals - hee hee!

I added the 2 tags to the right flap - punched a hole in the tops of them & then also through the flap itself - with gold baker's twine.

Here's a tip when it comes to bows... I like to get them how I like them and then have them stay put & not get stretched out, come untied or lose their ship.  I use a little liquid adhesive in a few strategic spots behind the loops & the tails.  It dries clear & makes sure the bow keeps its shape.

And here's my foundation page for day 4 -

Stayed pretty much the same, just added the tags, Santa and the star from my stash.
