December Daily 2025 | Day 4

Each day here on my blog I'll be sharing my foundation pages (the base page I had ready to go before the month, using my 2025 December Documented Mini Book Project Kit and the finished pages along with the supplies I used (linked at the end of each post).

Day 4 - The Annual Birthday Door + a cut file

Here are the individual pages that make up Day 4 -

I started a tradition with our boys when they were little - after they go to bed, the night before their birthdays, we decorate their bedroom door like a giant present, wrapped with paper, bows & little goodies attached.  They older they got, the more the things on the door change from trinkets & toys when they were little to cash & gift cards now :)

As silly as it seems, they both have really looked forward to their birthday door every year!  One year we were out of town for Sam's birthday and so we decorated the bathroom door in our hotel room for him - ha ha!!

Even though Sam no longer lives with us, I still do the birthday door every year... it's now a closet in the hallway in our house :)

Our older son Jack lives out of state, so last year I introduced his fiance to the concept of the birthday door and she did it for him on his birthday... boy was he surprised!!

Decorated the left page of the spread (the back of a Day 3 photo) wth a few things from Vicki Boutin's Mistletoe & Memories collection.

The '25' in the center is a cut file/download from my Dear December collection; there are 2 sizes - 6x8 & Traveler's Notebook size.  Even though I'm using a 6x8 album, I used the 25 from the TN set because I wanted a narrower piece.

It just so happens this year is Sam's 25th birthday, so the 25 is perfect!  You can also use it for the year 2025 or the 25th/Christmas :)

The 'good cheer' die cut lifts up and the piece with the photo of Sam standing in front of this year's birthday door, holding Reggie :),  folds down.

I added a library card with a little journaling, explaining the tradition.  Even though the 4th every year in my December Daily books since 2008 has Sam standing in front of his birthday door, I like to do a little recap in my book every  year :)

The piece that folded down earlier turns into a pocket that holds photos from 2 of his past birthday doors - 2010 and 2016 :)

It's fun to see how he changes from year to year looking at the picture in front of his birthday door :)
