December Daily 2023 - Day 17

Each day here on my blog I'll be sharing my foundation pages (the base page I had ready to go before the month), using my 2023 December Documented Mini Book Project Kit and the finished pages along with the supplies I used (linked at the end of each post).

Day 17 - Not something we want to be known for...

This article in the Salt Lake Tribune touts Salt Lake as having the worst air quality in the US right now - not something we want to be known for OR something we want to live in & breathe!

A little secret... if you clicked on the link, you may have noticed that the article is dated the 18th and I'm documenting it on the 17th.  That's totally ok!  If you're working on a project like this, it's your project... you can move things around for what works for you!  I do :)

On the left page I did some quick journaling about it.

The importance of 'let it snow' when we're smack in the middle of an inversion - it takes snow or lots of wind to get the gunk out of the Salt Lake Valley.

I created the background on the card under the snowman by stamping repeatedly on the card, using a sticky note as a mask and alternating how I placed the stamp to give it a nice, coherent look.  I also did some 2nd generation stamping on the journaling card - inked once, then stamped repeatedly as the ink got fainter.

The right side has a gold foil polka dot piece of acetate.

The white felt numbers & gold foil leaves sit on top of the acetate.  Everything else is on the page underneath.

I found the photo on the Salt Lake Tribune's Instagram page, took a screenshot & then sized for what I needed.  Look at that YUCKY air in the sky!!  :(

I fussy cut the pink 'let it snow' & the snow globes from a 4x6 card & adhered with pop dots - such an easy way to make your own embellishments, with a lot more impact than leaving as a 4x6 card.  I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the snow on the snow globes.

Here's the card I fussy cut, what a difference, right?!

Here's my original day 17 foundation pages; I pretty much kept the right page as it was, but changed direction on the left page & the overlay.
