70's Haunted Hits Layout | Design Team: Junell Kruzel

Hello all! Junell here on the blog today and I asked Alexa to play “70’s spooky music” for me while I created this layout and had so much fun! It must be because I’m a 70’s baby that I just love this very specific genre of music!

When I saw the cassette tape I immediately knew what I wanted to document! I selected the very graphic black and white striped paper from the October section of the latest Season Pass as my base and cut it to size.

The Charlie Lowercase Alpha is big and bold, and I knew my title would take up most of my page, so I worked on that next. I PURPOSELY wanted a “grungy” look with this title, so I made that happen with this very clean font by not inking up my stamp well and also not pressing evenly over the entire stamp block when I placed it on the paper. I also did not line up the letters. This helps the page “feel” creepier and spookier which is what I was going for.

There was a die cut of a skeleton that looked like it was dancing which was perfect for the theme of my page. As I looked through the entire Fall/Holiday Season Pass I found several “dancing” skeletons and scattered them around my page. Some I fussy cut from a patterned paper. I also added the musical notes to add to the theme.

I used my stamping Misti to stamp the cassette tapes and then die cut to cut them out and make them into pockets. I adhered them to my page and then found the album covers of my favorite spooky 70’s songs on the internet and printed them off. I have 4 in each cassette tape.

I am tickled pink with how this turned out, spooky, yet fun at the same time! Thanks for reading and you can find more of my layouts here on Instagram.
